Artist Statement

The consistent theme found in the work I do in two very different mediums, photography and painting, is the play of light and texture. I have spent countless hours pursuing the fleeting dance of light, the subtle differences in texture, temperature and contrast that light creates as it moves from one moment in time to the next.

In my photographs and paintings, I am constantly trying to capture that elusive quality that light and texture confer to objects.

In photography that means being in the right place at that moment, recognizing it and knowing what to do technically to capture it. In painting, it is more about reducing a picture to fundamental values and colors that will create the illusion of real-life light. Two different approaches, yet having the same goal.
